Una delle figure suddette è la "dottoressa" Hulda Clark, una naturopata che prometteva di poter diagnosticare e curare ogni malattia nel giro di poche settimane. Lo strumento utilizzato per a diagnosi si chiama sincrometro, da lei inventato e venduto, e consiste di una scatola simile ad una radio con sopra due piattini. Se si posiziona sul piattino di sinistra un campione qualsiasi e su quello di destra una sostanza di riferimento, il sincrometro risponde immediatamente in maniera positiva se la sostanza è contenuta nel campione. Quindi, posizionando un parassita non identificato a sinistra ed una banana a desta, si può determinare se il parassita viva nelle banane. Oppure se si mette una protesi a sinistra ed una boccetta di Cerio a destra, lo strumento valuta subito se la protesi contenga tracce minime di Cerio.
Con questo metodo la "dottoressa" poteva diagnosticare infezione da HIV, parassitosi, infezioni e avvelenamento da carcinogeni o radiazioni, tutto nel giro di pochi secondi.

Hulda Clark si laureò in biologia agli inizi degli anni '50, quando ancora doveva essere scoperta la forma del DNA, per non parlare del suo funzionamento. Prese una seconda laurea in zoologia e botanica, ma nella sua autobiografia affermava di essere laureata in fisiologia. Nel 1979 abbandonò la ricerca classica per dedicarsi alla naturoterapia, curando le persone grazie al sincrometro e allo zapper (altro strumento miracoloso ma creato per la terapia), dichiarando di poter guarire qualsiasi tumore e parassitosi in 21 giorni. Nel 1993 fu indagata per frode medica e scappò dall'Indiana, e nel 1999 fu arrestata finalmente in California per le stesse accuse, più l'accusa di latitanza. Riuscì a non farsi condannare in tribunale procastinando il processo giuridico e facendo cadere in questo modo le accuse. Nel 2003 fu bandita dalle pratiche mediche (non ha mai avuto la licenza medica) anche in Messico e nel 2004 la sua clinica fu condannata e costretta a rimborsare tutti i soldi acquisiti grazie alla vendita del sincrometro, poichè ritenuto inefficace e fraudolento. Tuttavia la Clark rimase lì a praticare fino alla sua morte nel 2009. Ironicamente, morì di mieloma multiplo, che a quanto pare non riuscì a curare.
Il vero problema qui è che la Clark fu la capostipite di una miriade ti movimenti alternativi che contano molti seguaci, il cui obiettivo è stornare la gente da qualunque terapia approvata dalla comunità medica. Questi movimenti non hanno un nome ma li trovo continuamente in molti siti alternativi o meno, e molte persone vi aderiscono.
Ora arriva la parte per gli addetti ai lavori.
La Clark aveva una teoria tutta sua sull'eziologia del cancro. Secondo lei l'accumulo di sostanze che il corpo non riesce a smaltire costringeva le cellule colpite a "regredire" ad uno stato energetico inferiore, forzandole a tornare alla semplice fermentazione e a TORNARE PROCARIOTI (esatto, secondo lei perdevano il nucleo). Così la cellula creava una colonia di organismi parassiti che si riproduceva in maniera anaerobia cercando di uccidere l'ospite.
Chiunque di voi abbia una minima conoscenza di scienze biologiche, a livello di liceo, può trovare almeno tre cose che non tornano.

The insturment she used for diagnosing was the synchrometer, which she invented and marketed. It is made like a radio box with two small metal plates on top of it. If you position a sample on the left plate and a substance on the right one, the device can immediately tell you if the substance is found in the sample. So if for example you position an unknown parasite on the left plate and a banana in the right plate, the synchrometer answers positevily if the parasite is found in bananas. Another example is, if you put a prostetic on the left and a little bottle of Cerium on the right, the instrument could detect if the prosthetic contained any Cerium at all.
Thanks to this, the "doctor" could diagnose HIV infection, parasites, infections in general and carcinogens or radiation poisoning, all within a few seconds.

Hulda Clark minored in biology in the early 50s, when the shape of DNA had yet to be discovered, let alone his mechanisms. She majored in zoology and botany, but she officialy claimed to be a physiologist. In 1979 she left mainstream research to venutre into naturopathy, healing people by means of the synchrometer and the zapper (another magical tool she invented for therapy), claiming she could heal any tumor and parasite infection within 21 days. In 1993 she was investigated for medical fraud and fled Indiana, then she was finally apprehended in California in 1999 for the same charges, plus a fugitive warrant. She was able to procastinate the trial interfering with the juridical process, finally succeding in making the charges fall for not being able to provide her with a speedy trial. In 2003 she was forbidden to practice medicine anymore (she never had a license) even in Mexico and in 2004 her clinic was charged and sentenced to give back all the money they made by selling the synchrometer, because it was deemed to be useless and fraudolent. Howeve Clark continued to practice up until her death in 2009. Ironically, she died of multiple mieloma. Guess she couldn't heal that one.
The real problem here is that Hulda Clark was the first of a moltitude of alternative groups with a lot of followers, whose goal is to avert people from any medically approved therapy. These groups don't actually have a name but I find them in a lot of sites, conspiratory or not, and a lot of people subscribe to them.
The following is for the "professionals".
Clark had a peculiar theory about cancer etiology. She thought that the building up of external substances inside the body forced the affected cells to "regress" to a lower energetic state, forcing them to go back to simple fermentation and to BECOME PROCARIOTIC (that's right, she claimed that they lost their nuclei). This way the cell formed a colony of parasite organisms reproducing in an anaerobic environment, trying to kill the host.
Whoever has a basic knowledge in biology, even at a high school level, could find at least three things that are wrong with this statement.
