Lasciamo i vecchi Maya in pace (hanno fatto il loro tempo) e parliamo di qualcosa di a dir poco futuristico.
Cominciamo con l'esporre, in breve, che cosa sia ufficialmente il progetto HAARP. E' un'installazione di ricerca supportata dal governo e dall'esercito, fondato nel 1993, in cui sono presenti motlissime antenne tecnologicamente avanzate. Si trova in Alaska, in mezzo al niente, e fu designata per esaminare la ionosfera (una portzione degli strati alti della nostra atmosfera) stimolandola direttamente con onde radio ad alta frequenza in aree limitate e poi studiando gli effetti fisici che ciò aveva avuto su di essa. Questo è reso possibile da diversi strumenti, il più importante dei quali è l'IRI (Ionospheric Research Instrument) e dei radar VHF (Very High Frequency) e UHF (Ultra High Frequency), fra gli altri.
Lo scopo del progetto è trovare modi migliori di sfruttare la ionosfera a nostro vantaggio, poichè essa gioca un ruolo fondamentale nella trasmissione a lunga distanza di radiazioni. Le applicazioni sono numerose, come nuovi modi per rendere inutilizzabili i missili a lunga gittata, ma anche come migliorare le trasmisisoni normali.
Mi sono tenuto sul generico per evitare di fare errori troppo grossolani e per tenere la cosa godibile per tutti, ma se volete qualche dettaglio potete visitare:
TEORIE COSPIRATORIE
E' affascinante ciò che potrebbe fare questo progetto. Ovviamente ci sono applicazioni militari, quasi ogni innovazione scientifica ne ha. Nessuno lo nega.
Tuttavia l'immaginario collettivo è stato stimolato da ciò, e sono sorte un certo numero di teorie che spiegano come questa sia in realtà un super arma per un tipo di guerra futuristica, e che viene utilizzata proprio ora!
Secondo loro, le antenne in realtà mandano segnali ad alta energia che... beh, a seconda della teoria si possono trovare alcuni dei seguenti aspetti.
- Il più ovvio: i segnali vengono usati per friggere la tecnologia nemica a continenti di distanza.
- I segnali possono richiamare le nuvole e causare inondazioni.
- I segnali deviano i venti e causano uragani e cicloni!
- Le onde radio rimblazano sulla ionosfera e causano terremoti! Meno giustificabile, eppure una delle più seguite, giuro.
- Il segnale può trovare e fare esplodere ogni ordigno nucleare sparso sulla Terra! Adesso! Ommioddio, tutti!
- E, ovviamente, come dimenticarsi dei classici? I segnali possono controllare la mente di enormi popolazioni ovunque nel mondo.
- Le antenne sono in realtà dei raggi della morte... giuro. Accumulano "particelle altamente cariche nella ionosfera" che poi cadono su un obiettivo dando un'esplosione nucleare senza radiazioni.
Un sacco di gente ci crede. David Icke è ovviamente fra questi: lui sostiene l'ipotesi terremoto/controllo mentale... le migliori, non poteva perdersele.
Potreste replicare "Beh, magari questa gente ha qualcosa su cui basarsi per dire tutto ciò." Verrebbe naturale pensarlo (a me è venuto), eppure non ho trovato niente. Niente. Queste sono alcune delle affermazioni che vanno vicine a poter essere chiamate "prove", per darvi un'idea:
- Molta gente vuole risposte! Includiamo [sic.] una nonna in Canada ed un attivista anti-nucleare in Australia. Beh, se lo hanno notato loro...
- Il progetto si basa sui lavori combinati di Bernard Eastlund e Nikola Tesla. Ciò viene presentato come un male, ma non capisco il perchè. Il primo è un fisico che ha fatto del lavoro veramente buono, non ho trovato niente di male che lo riguardi. Il secondo è... beh, è Tesla.
- Il sommario esecutivo dell'esercito, che corrobora tutto!!! Quando ho visto il link ho detto "Wow, un documento ufficiale compromettente, potrebbe esserci qualcosa davvero". Sono stato mandato ad un txt senza date, nomi, niente. L'avrei potuto aver scritto io.
- Ci sono delle email! EMAIL, GENTE! ASCOLTATEMI! Dovrebbero essere state scambiate fa un membro del congresso e l'HAARP. Curiosamente, si trovano solo nei siti cospiratori, il membro del consiglio sembra non avere nome e le email del progetto sono firmate "HAARP." Sarebbe come mandare un'email al presidente degli Stati Uniti e vedersi rispondere da una lettera firmata "Distinti saluti, Stati Uniti d'America".

Queste sono alcune delle fonti più valide che ho trovato. Ovviamente ce ne erano altre, tutte avevano qualcosa in comune: non potevano mai essere dimostrate, inoltre molte si basano su una discreta ignoranza di come funzioni un'onda radio.
So di aver preso un bel po' di spazio, mi dispiace, ma è un argomento interessante. Ero entusiasta di leggere tutte le "prove" da una parte e dall'altra.
Spero di avervi dato un'idea e che abbiate letto abbastanza da formarvi un'opinione. Chiudo con qualche fonte per i filo-cospiratori.

Let's leave the very ancient Maya alone (they've had their time) and let's focus on something really futuristic.
Let's start, in short, with what the HAARP project officially is. It is a government and military funded research facility, established in 1993, consisting of a lot of high tech antennae. It is placed in Alaska, in the middle of nothing, and it was designed to study the ionosphere (a portion of the high layers of our atmosphere) by actively sending high frequency radio waves towards limited areas of it and then studying the physical effects this had on the ionosphere itself. This is accomplished by a number of instruments, the most important of which are the IRI (Ionospheric Research Instrument) and the VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency) radars, amongst others.
The purpose of this project is to study better ways of using the ionosphere to our advantage, because it plays a paramount role in long distance radiation transmissions. The applications would be numerous, like new ways of rendering long range missles unusable, but also improving any normal transmissions.

CONSIPRACY THEORIES
It is fascinating indeed what this facility is trying to accomplish. Of course there are war-related applications, but then again, almost every scientific innovation has some. Nobody denies it.
The collective imagination was however titillated by this, and a number of theories came out of nowhere that explain how this is actually a super weapon for futuristic warfare, and it is being used right now!
According to them, the antennae actually send high energy signals that... well, different theories embrace a different subset of the following.
- The most obvious: the signals are used to fry all enemy technology continents away.
- The signals can cause the accumulation of clouds, bringing floods.
- The signals can redirect wind currents and cause hurricanes!
- The radiowaves can bounce off of the ionosphere and cause earthquakes! This is the less explainable and still one fo the most followed, I'm not kidding you.
- The signals could find and make the nuclear devices scattered around the Earth go off! Now! Oh my God, all of them!
- And, of course, how to forget the old classics? The signals can control the mind of large populations anywhere in the world.
- The antennae is actually a death ray... really. It builds up "highly charged particles in the ionosphere" that then fall on a target giving a nuclear explosion with no radiation.
A lot of people believe in this stuff. David Icke is one of those people of course: he backs up the earthquacke/mind control hypothesis... the best ones, he couldn't miss that train.
You could say "Well, maybe this people have something to go on to say such things." One would think so (I know I did), and yet I didn't find anything. Anything. These are some of the statements that come closer to be called "evidence", just to give you an idea:
- A lot of people demand answers! Including [sic.] a grandmother in Canada and an anti-nuclear protester in Australia. Well, if they noticed something is wrong...
- Is is based on the combined works of Bernard Eastlund and Nikola Tesla. This is supposed to be a very bad thing, but I didn't quite get why. The former is a physicist who did some really good work, I couldn't find anything scandalous about him. The latter is... well, is Tesla.
- The executive summary of the military stating all of the above!!! When I saw the link I said "Wow, an official controversial document, this could be it". I was sent to a .txt file with no dates, no names, no nothing. Something I could have written.
- There are emails! EMAIL, PEOPLE! HEAR ME! Allegedly they were exchanged between some congressman and the HAARP. Funny thing, they are only found in this conspiratory site, the congressman appearently has no name and the email coming back from the project are signed HAARP. It's like sending a mail to the presidenti of the United States and it coming back signed "Sincerely, USA".
These were some of the most valid sources I found. Of course there were others, all had in common one thing: they could never be proven, and a lot of it is base on a lot of misconception about how radiowaves work. You can find some other picture "evidence" inside the album I'll post briefly after this.

I know I went on a little too long, sorry, but it's an interesting topic, and I was psyched to read all of the "evidence" on both sides.
I hope I was able to give you an idea and that you were able to form an opinion. I close with some reference for the conspiracy-supporters.
