Vi presento una teoria che non è scientifica, nè pseudoscientifica.... è solo psichedelica.
Timewave zero è un termine coniato negli anni 70 da Terence McKenna, un botanico americano. Si tratta di una formula basata sulla numeralogia cinese dell'I-Ching e designata allo scopo di prevedere grandi esplosioni di "innovazioni" nel corso della storia umana.
Lasciatemi chiarire. La formula sostiene che i momenti in cui l'umanità ha subìto grandi evoluzioni da un punto di vista mentale/scientifico/conoscitivo non siano stati casuali, ma determinati da una tendenza naturale della storia umana verso un fine ultimo di natura divina. Quindi McKenna pensava che con la formula si potessero prevedere grandi catastrofi o rivoluzioni.
Da questo punto di partenza calcolò che il massimo picco nei parametri della Timewave sarebbe stato raggiunto il 21 Dicembre 2012. In quel momento, diceva, il mondo si trasformerà e tutte le innovazioni avverranno contemporaneamente facendoci ascendere ad uno stato superiore.
Quindi la fine del mondo, per lui, non è poi male.
Ovviamente ci sono un paio di cose che dovrebbero mettervi in allerta-bufale, se non ci siete già:
Potrebbe essere visto con sospetto il fatto che nella biografia di McKenna le parole "psichedelico", "allucinogeni", "hashish", "LSD", "contabbando" e "funghi" compaiano in ogni paragrafo. Non dico che uno non può farsi un po' di funghetti magici, ma non so se affiderei le sorti del mondo ad uno che ha avuto la sua prima esperienza allucinogena ad otto anni.- La formula usata è considerata valida matematicamente, ma i suoi postulati sono semplicemente arbitrari.
- IMPORTANTE: l'intera teoria non contiene NEANCHE UNA unità di misura.
- E' basata su scarsissime conoscenze di termodinamica e del corpo umano. Usa a sproposito la parla "entropia" come sinonimo di "ripetizione" ed "epigenetico" come "esperienza". Non importa se questo non lo avete colto, l'ho scritto solo per dare un'idea a quelli del campo che stanno leggendo.
- IMPORTANTE: il punto di partenza che McKenna stabilì per i calcoli è la bomba di Hiroshima. Alcuni calcoli, se fatti partire da lì, tornano anche, ma non sono offerte spiegazioni sul perchè questo evento sia considerato più importante di qualsiasi altro evento nella storia dell'Universo.
- IMPORTANTE: Timewave zero non ha mai predetto niente, in effetti. Se applicato in una certa maniera, torna retrospettivamente con alcuni eventi della storia umana (ma non con altri). Quelli che sostengono con i denti e con le unghie McKenna non sono interessati al fatto che questa teoria non abbia mai fatto niente per meritarsi la loro ammirazione.
- IMPORTANTE: i primi calcoli di McKenna terminavano con una data dopo il 2010, forse l'autunno del 2012, ma dopo la pubblicazione dei primi articoli sui calendario Maya cambiò le proprie conclusioni per adattare la data.

Se avete il coraggio di esplorarne la numerologia a fondo, qui ci sono due punti di vista opposti. Attenzione, la numerologia è uno pseudocampo che, se trattato male, può permettervi di estrapolare molte cose diverse gingillando un po' i numeri. Notare come nel video diano tutto per scontato da un punto di vista del tutto arbitrario.
Qunidi, chi non vuole avere niente a che fare con la vera scienza ma è troppo pigro per capire le altre teorie sul 2012, si rivolge a McKenna per dare l'impressione di non essere un sensazionalista alla ricerca di una teoria eccitante. Nonostante tutte le inconsistenze, questa è, se non la più seguita, una delle più stravaganti teorie sul 2012.

Here I present you a theory that is not scientific, nor pseudoscientific... it's just psychedelic.
Timewave zero is a term coined in the 1970s by Terence McKenna, an american botanist. It describes a formula based on the mistical I Ching numerology and desinged to foresee major "novelty" explosions throughout human history.
Let me clarify. This formula assumes that periods of time during which humankind progressed in the mental/scientific/awerness fields are not random, but are determined by a natural tendency of human history towards an ultimate end, divine in nature. So McKenna thought that with the Timewave Zero formula, one can predict times of great catastrophies or revolutions.
From this excellent strarting point, McKenna calculated that the maximum peak of the Timewave parameters will be reached in December 21, 2012. At that time, he said, the world will be transformed and all innovations will happen at the same time making us trascend to a higher state. So the end of the world, in his opinion, is not so bad.
Of course there's a couple of things that should put you in bogus-alert, if you already arent':
- It should arise suspicions that the biography of McKenna has the words "psychedelic", "hallucinogen", "hashis", "LSD", "smuggle" or "mushrooms" in every paragraph. Not saying that one is not allowed to do a little 'shrooms, but maybe I wouldn't trust the future of the world to a guy who had his first hallucinogenic experience when he was 8.
- The formula used to calculate timewave zero is considered to be mathematically valid, but its postulates are simply arbitrary.
- IMPORTANT POINT: The whole theory does not contain ONE SINGLE unit measure.
- It is based on a very poor understanding of thermodynamics nthropy and the human body, misusing constantly the word "enthropy" as a synonym for "repetition" and "epigenetic" for "experience. Don't worry, it is not crucial that you know what this is about, I just wrote it to give an idea to the professionals reading this.
- IMPORTANT POINT: The starting point for McKenna calculations was the Hiroshima bomb. Maybe some of the math cheks out in that way, but there is no explaination as to why this date is more revelant than any other date in the history of the universe.
- IMPORTANT POINT: Timewave zero never actually predicted anything. If applied in a certain way retroactively fits some events of human histroy (but not some other). So the ones who are all hot for it do not care that it has never actually done anything to deserve their awe.
- IMPORTANT POINT: McKenna first calculations ended the world somewhere after 2010, maybe in the autumn of 2012, but after the first articles about the mayan calendar were published he changed his conclusions to fit the date.

If you want to venture into the depths of his numerology, here are the two viewpoints. Please be aware that numerology is a pseudofield where you can extrapolate a lot of very different things if you juggle the numbers a little bit. So people who want to have nothing to do with real science and who are too lazy to understand other 2012 theories just run to McKenna to give the impression they're not just sensationalists looking for the next thrilling theory. For all the inconsistencies this theory shows, it is, if not the most followed, one of the most extravagant 2012 theories.
